Château des Ferrages Les Infirmières (White) 2020 - Highly RecommendedPale lemon gold. Lots of new oak and gentle tropical notes on the nose. Powerful new oak on the palate, somewhat dominating the lemon, honey fruit and a touch of canned pineapple. Rich, beeswaxy and unbelievably decadent, it is bursting with tropical fruit, coconut, wildflowers and creamy, perfectly ripe white stone fruit. A little brutish, the oak enhances the very ripe fruit and bigness rather than acting as a restraining support. Green apples, custard apples, almost softly ripe bananas, stem ginger and spice provide beautiful depth and complexity. The finish is an acidity bomb that blows away all memory of that decadence and exotic richness. Powerful and exciting; perhaps aiming at a more international or Burgundian style.
