    Antinori Pian delle Vigne Vignaferrovia Riserva (Red) 2019 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

    Lots of floral perfume on the nose. Pretty rose garden and tropical flowers, lightly waxy, rather a lot of beeswax and some red cherry jam. Lovely concentration and weight. Oak very evident, with a new sweetness and light crunchiness to it that will horrify purists but delight the rest of us. Incredibly juicy red fruit, lots of complexity, wonderful tannins. Weighty, moreish, exciting. Precisely the kind of Riserva I look for - more oaky than the regular, more complex than most, exciting, crunchy, just enough tannins. Serious and age-worthy, but still wonderfully drinkable today. Yummy.
