Ridolfi Brunello di Montalcino (Red)

Mostly translucent, surprisingly brickish. Incredibly powerful red fruit on the nose, juicy and vibrant. Lots of concentrated red fruit on the palate, balanced by lots of opulent cacao, torrefied coffee, juicy and decadent fruit. Very, very high acidity which really lifts and give an elegance to the juicy red fruit. More than the tannins, the acidity just lingers on the finish... Has a youthfulness to it that feels incredibly modern - this is a wine that knows what the kids in New York really want, and is delivering. A big departure from the previous vintage of this wine that felt over-extracted and cooked. Lots of violets and quite a bit of alcohol here still, but the tannins are so sandy and well-behaved that this just feels beautifully put together. Very moreish.
