Château la Verrerie Hautes Collines (Red) 2020 - OutstandingDark purple garnet. A hint of Syrah leatheriness on the nose. Inky, glassy, basalt-black minerality on the palate. Firm tannins, lots of black fruit, saline mineral mulberries and blackberries. A hint of liquorice, some wild fennel and garrigue slightly saline. Quite closed. The tannins have a chewy firmness to them which strikes more of Provence and its rustic reds, but the finish is chewy, polished, inky and reminiscent of the gloss and effortlessness of some of the Rhone. Loads of fruit, but all within a super elegant structure with long length and lovely complexity of fruit and savoury flavours with some garrigue black chocolate. It is big, classy and awfully well-balanced. A grand vin ageing imperceptibly. Stellar, a serious class act.
