Domaine de la Bastidonne Ventoux (Red) 2023 - Highly RecommendedSemi-opaque. Ruby. Slightly toasty notes. Slightly cooked, velvety black fruit on the nose. A hint of black minerality, some very subtle black pepper. On the palate the toasty oak continues balancing the wild sloe and damson fruit. Tannins are very hard, very mineral, very extracted. Weighty mouthwatering tannins, vibrantly fresh acidity and opulent blue and black fruit with a fine inky minerality. Pretty acidity, and not too much alcohol, just enough to cover the very ripe, slightly soft fruit. A modern commercial opulence, mouthfilling and rather lovely, delivering on the prompt of a southern red full of sunshine.
