Domaine de Metifiot Alpilles (Red) 2023 - OutstandingSemi-opaque ruby. Dark blue plummy fruit aromas alongside berry-forward fruity wild hedgerow notes, a hint of gunflint, leather, cedar, tobacco, eucalyptus, and rather a lot of wild fennel or mint. The palate is big, glossy, modern, and very appealing, showing oak salinity with some sweetness. Intense and concentrated without being ripe and jammy, featuring blue flowers, dark blue minerality, and a silky velvet texture. Tannins are chalky, youthful, with a dry finish, backed up by basketloads of berry-driven fruit, blackberries, and even a hint of cranberry freshness. It has a purity of fruit, which, with careful winemaking, has brought out the best of every variety. Beautifully elegant with crunchy acidity and some bright sour red fruit salinity on the powerful finish. Provence red lovers look no further.
