Domaine Tempier Tourtine (Red) 2023 - Highly RecommendedBlack tea, lavender and inky saline aromas alongside black inky flowers. Where La Migoua was showing youthful openness, La Tourtine is closed and moody, but this could reverse at any time. On the palate, it is very tight, very black, long and closed. Juicy black fruit and berries, slightly leathery, exceptionally inky and mineral. Steely, oily and dieselly. Remarkably fresh and acidic with firm, grippy tannins that have a closed, taciturn simplicity to them. A little one-dimensional in its youth. This lacks the depth and complexity of some more modern expressions of Bandol that somehow manage to be both brilliant from day one and then forever after.
