Marrenon Oris (Rosé) 2023 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Pale coppery salmon pink. Creamy buttery aromas on the nose with a hint of struck match and quite a bit of sweet oak. On the palate, there is some red fruit, but the oak is doing most of the aromatic heavy lifting, providing smoky, toasty notes and pretty tropical vanilla. It provides the backbone of the wine, offering supple tannins supported by gentle, slightly silky, chalky acidity and creamy richness. Boldly trying to do a little bit more, than the standard rosé, there is long mouthwatering freshness, balancing the fruit, finishing with salinity on the finale. Very much an oak-driven wine that will absolutely appeal to lovers of Garrus and reserva style Spanish rosado. Classy, and I would happily order a bottle of this in a nice wine bar for a long relaxed lunch. One of the new wave Provence rosés now appearing in recent vintages.
