Moulin de la Roque Domaine de la Nartette Bandol (Red) 2020 - RecommendedFrom some of the vines closest to the sea in all Bandol. Ruby red to semi-opaque. Soft, slightly confected red fruit on the nose with raisins, prunes, a hint of figs, black cherries, liquorice, and slightly leafy herbal notes. A touch of oak, possibly new, on the nose translates to very chewy, woody tannins on the palate. Traditional and classic, offering a taste of a Provence winemaking scene that pale rosé left in the dust a long time ago. Despite the fresh acidity and elegant black fruit, the palate is tight, unyielding, and highly extracted. The finish is marked by very dried out, dry gamey tannins, suggesting it could do with a while in the bottle to soften. Don't be afraid to cellar this.
