Domaine Dalmeran Bastide (Red) 2022 - ExceptionalSemi-translucent ruby red. Soft, sweet, ripe red fruit and warm cedar fruit aromas burst from the glass. It just explodes with raspberries, red cherries, cherry blossom, and a hint of cacao. The palate offers rich, ripe, jammy fruit that is soft, supple, and elegant, balanced by zippy acidity and crunchy, firm tannins. There is an ethereal delicacy alongside slightly serious torrefied coffee and cacao notes, sitting in the corner smirking at the party of fruit going on in front of it. Modern, exciting, fruit-driven, but still pleasantly structured with slightly taciturn dark inky tannins bringing up the rear. Completely atypical of almost alll other wines in Les Baux which embrace a more full-bodied approach. An interesting and quite unusual blend of grapes; definitely not Syrah! WOW.
