Bodega Classica Hacienda López de Haro Rioja Gran Reserva (Rosé) 2016 - ExceptionalGran reserva current vintages put pay to the myth that only the most recent vintages will sell. Copper cherry sunset in a glass. Spice and a hint of oxidative oak on the nose, delicate but firmly there. The oak is in firm control on the palate, giving weight and structure, with finely tuned mineral acidity and austere, linear redcurrant fruit alongside cherries, a hint of forest floor and wild strawberries. Quite firm, with unyielding oaky tannins and piercingly vibrant acidity. The wine in complete control of itself. Balanced, elegant, correct. Exciting, complex, boundary-pushing and charming, multi-dimensional: a real aristocrat.
