2019
Fanti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (Red) 2019 - 92Somewhat more opaque brickish garnet. Surprisingly restrained on the nose. Didn't love the nose, but on the palate, this starts off with a round of remarkably inky, soft, silky black fruit. An almost bitter salinity, followed by lots of jammy black cherries, blackberries, and subtly inky minerality. Fresh, exciting - lovely blueberries and light blue floral notes. Complex and really rather gorgeous. Lovely rich minerality with a chewiness to the tannins that really cuts through the absurdly high saline acidity. Not over-extracted, but just right, with just enough tannins to remind you that w're still in Montalcino. It's not the biggest wow-factor wine, but I'm struggling to think of anything I'd change.
