Il Poggione Vigna Paganelli (Red)

Lots of dark blue fruit, violets, inky. Subtle blue flowers, blue inky fruit. I was really enjoying this - lovely black fruit, inky, complex - until the mid-palate, where the tannins decide that they've lingered on the sidelines long enough, and they deserve to take over. And take over they do. Big, extracted, powerful - but still with that delicate and floral inky black fruit screaming from the background as it is drowned out by the tannins. A shame. Give it half a decade at least. I don't dislike it, I just don't trust it. Despite everything, it does have lvely complexity and nice concentration.
