2019
Padelletti Brunello di Montalcino Riserva (Red) 2019 - 91A little restrained on the nose. Some blue floral fruit, a hint of complxity and age. On the palate, lots of crunchy tannins, lots of oak, incredibly intense oaky extraction. Loving the richness, toffeed fruit and tertiary aromatics that are starting to dominate, but still overall finding this a little old-fashioned. It's good that it's not overly-extracted alcohol, but nonetheless this is just missing something. It feels like the sort of Riserva you learn to avoid because it's just more tannic, rather than the one you learn to love because it's more complex. That being said, it is awfully well made, and really very moreish. I'd say yes to another glass.
