Tiezzi Soccorso Riserva (Red)

Some pretty red flowers. A tiny hint of torrefaction, a little flinty minerality. On the palate, there's a subtle floral, herbal, minty minerality that is elegant, linear and direct, backed up by a lot of floral richness (a hint of pot pourri and VA doesn't hurt), with real concentration and power. Tannins are very extractd, very dry - but backed up by so much freshness, fruit and alcohol that it's tough to not like this wine. It's a bit of a bumbling old professor sort of wine - it ticks every box, has a few quirks that are eyebrow-raising, but ultimately is very knowledgeable, knows what it's up to, and is really very charming. Delivers on expectations.
