Château Vignelaure Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence (Red) 2020 - RecommendedMid purple red, semi-opaque. Floral pot pourri, lots of blackcurrant, cassis, inky liquorice, spice and pretty, slightly sweet oak on the nose. Tight, youthful, chalky tannins and a blue mineral tightness on the palate. Beautiful fresh inkiness, lifted by leafy pencilly notes. Driven by fruit rather than texture, and while not immediately charming or oozing southern ripeness, this wine has intensity and weight. Youthful freshness with varietal charm, and the closed restraint of youth with a dry tannic finish. A nice wine, still driven by varietal charm rather than complexity and needs quite a bit longer in bottle.
