Château L’Ermite d’Auzan

L’Ermite d’Auzan is the southern Costieres de Nimes’ largest Mourvèdre grower, and as they like to point out, in Saint-Gilles, the local town, it was once known as the “plant de Saint Gilles”. Ever since Jerome was joined by his son, Tanguy, the estate has gone fully biodynamic, even keeping parcels empty of vines to allow for nesting birds. All of their wines use the same 400l barrels from a small cooper in Correze, Tonneliers Condachou, and their top rosé is no exception. Their masterful use of oak really makes them stand out, and gives them more in common with the best of Bandol than any of their neighbours.
