Le Clos Rivieral Champs du Cade (Rosé) 2025 - RecommendedOne of the Languedoc's most remarkable single-vineyard rosés, made primarily from 50+ year-old Cinsault. Blanc de noir, with almost no colour. Very restrained and austere on the nose. The palate is concentrated and intense, with creamy nuttiness and beautiful intensity and acidity. Reminds us of a more serious, no-nonsense version of Ste Marguerite's Cuvée Marguerite - but is it a rosé? Does it spark joy? If all the frivolity has been stripped away to leave just structure and seriousness, what's even the point? To our taste, this a step too far in the house style of freshness. At 12.5abv and with no colour, this is more of an austere white than a rosé, and it misses out on the aromatic complexity of the beautiful garrigue that surrounds the Clos Rivieral.
