Bosinakis Winery Aspela (Rosé) 2024 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Dark garnet-copper pink, the colour gained from longer maceration. Moschofilero typicity shouts from the start: rosewater and intense floral perfume on the nose, with a slightly wild garrigue and red fruit character, and a dark, slightly inky musky twist, more tropical-at-night, enticingly mineral. On the palate, very like a gorgeous negroni: bitter, dark caramelised oranges, sour vibrant acidity and aperitivo-bitter herbal complexity, with vibrant fresh red fruit and subtle natural gameyness. Silky, almost invisible tannins, beautifully integrated and balanced, powerful without flexing its muscles. Feline all the way to the finish, erring towards a light, natural red rather than a classic pink. A stunning wine that defies categories rather than defining them. This is electric and alive!
