Dark purple to opaque ruby. A powerful, confident nose full of deep dark fruit, plums, blackcurrants, and secondary aromatics of spice, violets, leather, and garrigue. Dark, mysterious, and inky. On the palate, it is unapologetically ripe and supple with firm, silky velvet tannins and dark black fruit. Bold, confident, ripe, solar, and Provencal. The finish offers pretty, slightly jammy and floral blackcurrants alongside hints of eucalyptus and wild fennel. The alcohol is a little evident, and it would benefit from a bit more structural backbone to accompany the rugged, mineral tannins and stand in for the slightly subdued, chalky acidity. A very beautiful Cab-Syrah Provencal red, and quite a relief to indulge in after too much rosé!
