Finca Allende Rioja Reserva (Rosé) 2018 - ExceptionalCoral copper pink. Jaw-droppingly gorgeous oaky oxidative aromas and aged rosé spice, cedar, sandalwood, incense and pot pourri, against a dark, almost tarry pine resin oakiness. Despite the decadence on the nose, the palate is dripping crunchy red fruit, red cherries and blackcurrant jam, with ripe peach and nutty tertiary development. Hints of spice, menthol, eucalyptus and hot summer evenings round out the aromatics. On the palate, supple velvety oaky tannins, a touch of black pepper and juniper, with a dark purple mineral austerity running through the centre that gives real gravitas. A lively acidity supports the show-stopping structure. Really salty on the finish. Textural, serious and stunning, rich, complex and fully bodied enough to be a gastronomic offering. Worth noting the age of this wine and how vibrantly youthful it still is.
