Showing wonderful Burgundian Pinot Noir character, a reminder that this southern Champagne region almost touches northern Burgundy and reminding Elizabeth of the lovely red wines of Irancy in the 1980s. Garnet red. Silky, underripe plums on the nose, savoury, gamey, mineral, with sour cherries. A tiny hint of natural leatheriness combined with a fresh liveliness. Incredibly grippy with silky tannins, powerful, mouth-filling and concentrated. A little saline and mineral. Gutsy and real.
