Lacules Bay Vineyard (Rosé)

The heavy dark bottle certainly gives an aura of serious weightiness that a single vineyard justifies. Pretty cherry pink the wine reveals aromas of black cherries and rather lovely soft red fruit with notes of incense and spice in a rich, sleepy, dark and rather mysterious package. Delicately opulent ripe red fruit on the palate, ripe, decadent and almost lazy in its charming softness. Easy-drinking and complex, though the slightly bitter tannins and a lack of acidity keep it from lifting into an unquestionably refined category. Beautiful ripeness and concentration, but it comes across as trying just a little too hard to be a fruit-driven rosé.
