    Quinta da Gaivosa Rosa Celeste (Rosé) 2023 - Highly RecommendedTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

    One of the Douro's most iconic oaked rosés, and it never fails to disappoint. Pale creamy coral pink. Restrained on the nose, with quite stern, disciplined toasty French oak adding spice, nuttiness and creamy floral notes, almost marzipan. On the palate the oak opens up to vanilla, yellow peaches, a hint of pineapple and white chocolate, with saline, nutty richness. Quite pretty, tight and linear, with a slightly leafy, fresh mineral acidity and a tiny hint of blackcurrant and aniseed that seems to so often accompany great Douro rosés. Elegant, glassy and ethereal, delicious in its creaminess yet delicate. Classic style but clearly not Provence; very lovely, and very much a rosé for lovers of oaked whites or Garrus-inspired oaked rosés.
