Weingut Georg Weinwurm HOMMAGE – Roter Muskateller skin fermented (Rosé) 2023 - ExceptionalThis wine ticks all the boxes. Manual harvest, extended skin contact, barrel fermentation, un-filtered turn a variety often left as a simple, fresh grapey wine into something truely delicious. Pale shell peach pink and a touch cloudy. Amazingly intense, musky, mysterious, and magical aromas of flowers, peaches, rosewater, honeysuckle, and jasmine. Behind that facade of sweet floral perfume is pure varietal joy, marked by powerful, electric acidity and a wild red berry crunch. Crisp, slightly chalky, energetic, and vibrant, with hints of rhubarb and crunchy cranberries. A lovely lasting citrussy finish of Sorrento lemons and orange blossom. Love the bold, confident handling of this variety. Ethereal but powerful, it is equally suitable by a nice pool as an avant-garde Michelin-starred restaurant. Proof that Muscat can make a fine wine.
