Zacharias Lexis Gris (Rosé) 2024 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Harvested fully ripe, extended skin contact and long ageing on the lees makes this wine unashamedly intense. Dark copper pink, the Moschofilero aromatics rise powerfully from the glass, contributing beautiful perfume and unmistakeable charm. Sweetly grapey, giving the impression of being off dry, with pretty white peaches and a touch of ripe red apples. Stunningly vibrant, concentrated, refined, crystalline acidity, sharp as a knife-edge. Despite that freshness, this is dripping in fruit and aromatic intensity, floral, pretty and beguiling, with light grey minerality and some fine but weighty phenolics giving serious structure. Absolutely charming, a wine which allows grown-ups to indulge and be pretty.
