Château des Bormettes Instinct Parcellaire (Red) 2022 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Dark purple ruby red. Restrained on the nose at first, opening up to pretty gunflint, leathery notes, spice, and wild herbes de Provence garrigue notes. The palate is built on firm, tight, blue mineral tannins and rough velvet, wrapped up in crisp, disciplined, unyielding clean acidity. Confident, big, bold, and inky, focusing very much on the purity of fruit and blue floral notes rather than layering on heavy weight. Exceptionally chalky, pure, and precise, ending with blackberries and hedgerow fruit on the finish. Very well made, and a great showcase of the house style's blue minerality.
