Alain Baccino et Filles Domaine des Peircèdes Règue des Botes (Red) 2021 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Dark purple. Briney dark plum and blue floral aromas, alongside opulent, charming red and black fruit. On the palate, powerful, chewy, full-bodied dark blue fruit, inky salted plums, concentrated damsons, a hint of garrigue, black chocolate, leather and pretty spice. Almost solid in structure, but avoiding any jamminess. The tannins are beautifully integrated supple and velvet textured, giving weight and structure in. a classic Provence style. The acidity has a blue floral freshness. Hints of oak take a backseat to the fruit. Generous alcohol on the finish is lifted by fruity acidity and blanketed by silky fruit. It is like the Mistral, sunshine and lavender fields in a glass. Lip-smackingly refreshing despite the weight, with real concentration and the beginnings of complexity. Stunning.
