Bargemone Les Secrets de la Bargemone (Rosé) 2023 - Highly RecommendedPale copper gold. Beguiling aromatics of soft mellow oak, with intense smoky, tarry, cigar and peppery spice, sweet vanilla, fresh baguette and a touch of beeswax. Soft mellow fruit, though squeaky clean with no oxidation despite the richness and power of the oak. Very saline tannins, with remarkably mineral, chalky, fresh, acidity. The mellow richness is wonderfully enticing and complex, a fairy-tale enchanted forest sort of wine where everything is ever-so-slightly-unexpected. Would have liked a touch more ripeness to balance the oak, and the wine seems to be ageing faster than its three years suggest. Distinctive and classy, appealing to lovers of spiced oaked Chardonnay.
