Bastide de Blacailloux Aquino (Red) 2023 - Highly RecommendedSemi-opaque ruby. Leather, violets, blackcurrants and cassis on the nose. Black inky liquorice, generous spice and subtle, spiced gamey leather - utterly Provençal. Ripe, generous, muscular and solar, ending on warm alcohol and a slightly perfumed salinity. Tannins are firm but gentle, enveloped by fruit and sunny alcohol; even by sunny Provençal standards, this is on the riper side of things, yet perfectly balanced by fine acidity. Powerful, suave and generous; Cabernet-Syrah at its technical finest.
