Pale lemon yellow. Generous toasty oak on the nose. Pretty red apples, satsumas, a hint of tropical fruit and subtle smoke from the oak. Incredibly gravelly and textural on the palate, with generous alcohol, sweet creamy new oak and very citrussy acidity. Long finish with plenty of acidity - all in all, an elegant and dainty wine that squeezes in some remarkably fresh and zippy fruit despite the seriousness of the oak and the ripeness of the fruit. Rather lovely, and is exactly what all serious white Provence should aspire to: this is the benchmark that all fresh-but-serious-and-ageworthy Rolle should hit.
