Cave de Beaumont Les Terrasses (Red) 2021 - OutstandingMade by one of our favourite winemakers in the Ventoux, Daniel Haile. Semi-opaque. Lots of blueberry notes, perfumed violets, pretty herbal and almost medicinal notes on the nose. Dark chocolate, cacao and pretty sweet torrefied notes in the background. Black inky mineral, dark and deep. The tannins are remarkably fresh and chalky, backed up by lots of acidity and a remarkably youthful, pretty red berry fruit. Some textured tannins, but ultimately silky ripe fruit and long fresh acidity. Very classy, balanced, firm and fruity, with a lot of ageing ahead of it. Beaumont is at the northern end of Ventoux, closest to the Dentelles de Montmirail, furthest from the sea and the Côte d'Azur - and it shows in the wines, clearly closer to the Rhône in style.
