Château d’Estoublon Les Baux-De-Provence (White) 2023 - OutstandingVery pale lemon gold. Hints of beeswax, gentle honeyed oak, almonds and a hint of saline tarriness on the nose. On the palate, ripe juicy pears and white stone fruit, a hint of crisp white citrus and satsuma, and a touch of tropical blossom. Almost lean and austere with long fine mineral acidity, tight nutty phenolics, a hint of white pepper and lavender. There is powerful piercing lime and grapefruit acidity balancing the ripe, weighty concentration. The oak gives subtle beeswax richness and structure. Amazing elegance and intensity with seductive charm. Despite the ripe weight, it manages an ethereal delicacy and floral freshness that is like the cold Mistral on a sweltering sunny day. I could be convinced this was a top white Rioja, and I can give no greater praise!
