Château de Sannes Castini (Red) 2022 - RecommendedDarker red to semi-opaque ruby. A lot of floral notes, pot pourri, incense, eucalyptus and lovely toasty character from the oak on the nose. The palate shows some texture from the amphora alongside soft ripe fruit and long saline mineral acidity. Overall this is big, bold and slightly soft with blue black fruit. Tannins are soft and a little figgy, dried out on the finish, while acidity is there but very much an afterthought. Lots of concentration and intensity. Big, figgy, not quite modern but certainly easy-drinking, solar, ripe and rounded. A nice wine, but the whites and rosés are far more premium. Lovely soft supple ripeness, though it could maybe be bolder on tannic extraction.
