Opaque ruby. Incense, pot pourri, and a hint of struck match on the nose. Like walking into a dark church, everything is quiet and smells of an indescribable mix of spices and smoky incense. On the whole, a fresh wine with rich, intense, opulent dark fruit alongside fresh herbal, garrigue, leafy black tea, and floral notes. Firm, velvety, slightly dusty tannins balance fresh acidity and fine minerality. Firmly fruity and quite joyous, it is a very serious sort of wine that maybe does not laugh enough at itself, offering tons of spice, black fruit, and remarkable elegance. Long-term I would love to see a touch more complexity and weight on the mid-palate.
