Pale gold. Slightly creamy, minty, buttery aromas on the nose with a hint of bruised stone fruit, dried apricots and spice. A slightly odd juxtaposition of both creamy and minty. Slightly closed with a hint of spritz on the palate. Dark saline oak minerality runs through the middle but feels jagged around the edges. Black schistous minerality and a slightly chalky texture. It takes itself very seriously, with remarkable intensity and lots of structure keeping it in check - and pleasantly evident oak or amphora lending a real backbone. Mineral, linear, driven and purposeful. Lots of freshness despite that richness on the nose and intensity on the palate. It feels a little disjointed and struggling to achieve the quality level it is setting out for, but I would like to see where this is in six months.
