Château Pesquié Tandem (Red) 2023 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

A really exciting co-fermented 'blouge' of 45yo Grenache Bland and Grenache Blanc that really redefines what we ought to look for in Provence - is this almost Tavellois more than Provencal? Almost translucent ruby red. Wonderfully mineral and floral on the nose with slightly reductive struck match, pretty red fruit, a hint of perfumed geraniums and herbal notes. The palate shows lovely elegance, fresh vibrant wild hedgerow, white blossom, crisp citrus, and subtle stone fruit. You could be forgiven for thinking this is Cinsault for its elegance, perfume, and subtle reductive quality. Crisp, mineral, glassy, and crystalline with lots of lovely acidity. Perfect wine for those looking for a red that is elegant, lacy, perfumed, and delicate with minerality and freshness. Extremely modern and fashionable. Great for a summer red, not iced, but a fresh lovely wine with lovely acidity to go with cheese.
