Château Sainte Croix Patriarche (Orange) 2024 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Pale lemon gold. Amazingly floral on the nose, almost hints of elderflower, pretty white flowers, a hint of struck match, very generous lime juice and a touch of oak. Beautiful floral notes with a rich intensity of honeyed grapefruit. Gorgeously ripe, supple silkiness with long elegant white citrus acidity, long pithy salinity and grapefruit pith. Powerful, glassy, mineral, crystalline and incredibly structured. Saline, pretty, remarkably ethereal and delicate despite that power. Exceptionally saline and textured, grippy and gravelly. Classy. Avoids the richness and opulence of Provençal sunshine, but still encapsulates its depth and charm. Aims for texture and acidity over fruit and opulence - and it works.
