Chêne Bleu Abelard (Red)

Semi-opaque. Lots of garrigue on the nose, some beeswax, slightly tarry and a bit pot pourri. There is something incredibly evocative in the aromas of an aged southern red which reminds me of hot summers. On the palate, this is still very young. Tight concentrated blue minerality and some rather tarry fruit. Rather disappointing, a bit tired and emperor's-new-clothes. Nice intensity, pretty and a little olde-worlde, but slightly blunt on the finish. A little rustic with heavy red fruit but lacking freshness and finesse.
