Clos Cibonne Château Cibon Cuvée Valentine Cru Classé (Red) 2023 - OutstandingRuby red. Aromas of pot pourri, carnations, cedar and cherries. Expecting mellowness on the palate, but this is still very youthful, firm, and not yet ready for drinking. Tuck it away in the cellar; right now it delivers sloes, elderberries, serious foraging fruit, firm mouth-coating tannins and dark slatey minerality. Salinity really builds as the wine opens up. Surprisingly different from the other reds (and atypical of Provence) with rough, blue velvet-textured tannins contrasting the intensity of mellow blue fruit, floral notes, and crisp salinity. Made in new barriques with pigeage. Elegant, floral, but still highly structural and serious. A great showing of what serious Tibouren can do as a red in Provence.
