Domaine de la Martinelle Ventoux (Red) 2023 - RecommendedSemi-translucent, almost garnet red. Ruby red. Pretty leathery and bramble notes on the nose. A hint of spice. Remarkably fresh on the palate, with very fruit-forward red juicy berries, inky blue minerality, very vibrant wild raspberry fruit, mouthwatering acidity and firm tannins. Tannins are quite drying, chalky. Ripeness and subtly sweet alcohol on the finish seem a little too evident. A lot of everything but pulling together harmoniously making for a concentrated modern fruity red. So focused on backbone, structure, and above all freshness that it requires concentration to really enjoy.
