Domaine de Trévallon Alpilles (White) 2024 - OutstandingTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Pale lemon gold. Honeyed marzipan, intense yellow stone fruit and bright tropical floral aromas and the mineral flinty note we have often found on young white Trevallon. The palate, however, is a revelation. This could be Grand Cru Burgundy. Rich, ripe and silky fruit with some very serious, disciplined oaky notes and well integrated, almost saline minerality and weighty structure. The acidity (with a hint of salinity) perfectly balances everything and is always there - at the tip of the tongue, the mid-palate, the finish. Complex layers of flavours, subtle green apples, red apples, orchard fruit, a hint of quince, nashi pear, stem ginger, beeswax, nutty oak, garrigue, wild fennel, meadow flowers. Concentrated, textured, refined and poised. Pretty much perfect.
