Domaine du Chat Blanc Bien Nez (Red) 2022 - OutstandingSemi-opaque with slightly ruby edges. Herbal, floral, beeswax. Delicious. This has everything in perfect balance. Quite a bit of sweet oak backing up the sweetness of the fruit, with pretty garrigue, black cocoa, raspberry jam and a hint of almond kernels. It is a big velvety bear-hug of a wine with plenty of concentration, fab intensity and a beautiful restraint. Beautiful wild red berry acidity balances it all, with juicy blackberries, cooked blackcurrants and a hint of eucalyptus. Firm blue mineral tannins. Eminently drinkable, big, bold and ripe without feeling heavy. Outstanding red that really shows where Châteauneuf and the southern Rhône bleed into Provence - with this wine (from Domaine du Chat Blanc, just to the north of the Abbaye de Sénanque and the Monts de Vaucluse) firmly in a Rhône style.
