Domaine Gavoty Storia (Red) 2023 - Highly RecommendedCarignan planted in 1961! Moderate to semi-opaque garnet. Lots of leafy, slightly carbonic black fruit. Floral and perfumed with pot pourri and damsons. Black tea, orange blossom, bergamot, and quite drying tannins. A touch overripe and figgy, and even the very delicate extraction can't quite save it. Lots of acidity that feels a bit out of touch; it's fresh, but lacks harmony as only Carignan boyishly can. Big and boisterous aromatically and not particularly refined, but wonderfully solar and full of spice and fruit. Soulful, gluggable, and very Carignan.
