Domaine Richeaume Carignan (Red) 2023 - Highly RecommendedA single parcel of half-century-old ultra-low-yielding Carignan, mostly vinified in whole bunches and aged in terracotta amphora. Crimson ruby red. Wild, savage fruit aromas on the nose with nice spice, hints of leather and blackberries. On the palate, lots of crunchy, jubilant, possibly carbonic fruit and sloes. Quite tannic with textured blue tannins that are elegant and juicy. Vibrantly austere acidity which is stunning for the hot climate of Provence. Great ageing potential and an ideal, extremely fashionable warm-weather red to cut through rich food. Ends on pretty blue flowers. Charming.
