Mid depth red. Fresh, zippy, leafy reductive charm and that florality on the nose which is so typical of Cinsault. On the palate, hints of tarry liquorice, floral pot pourri, crushed raspberries and a carbonic maceration type gaminess. Some petillance and a very 'sauvage' wild energy. Incredibly full of fruit, bursting at the seams with brambles, black cherries and blackberries. There are some dark blue and black berries pulling out the tannic structure, alongside vibrant, bright purple acidity and a saline twist. Delicate and elegant, but powerful, concentrated and suave. Pretty rusticity to the tannins on the finish keeps things real and genuine. Despite all of the fruit, this is not a simple fruit-forward summer wine. This is fresh, vibrant, dark, moody and full of rebellious energy, and definitely more of a summer red than a dark rosé. Great drunk fresh in summer, and I am already dreaming of quaffing this with an excellent BBQ, during a summer thunderstorm in the arrière pays, or saving it for Saint-Tropez in autumn.
