Sylvain Morey La Bastide du Claux Saint Jean (Red) 2022 - OutstandingRuby red. Briney aromatics on the nose, remarkably restrained at first. On the palate, however, this is explosive, very textured, incredibly fresh, lively and full of joy, positively skipping and jumping out of the glass with soft, juicy, almost carbonic fresh-and-juicy red berry fruit and salted raspberries. Long fresh acidity and mouth-gripping tannins that keep going on the length. It's not all superficial though; this opens up to a wonderfully grippy, gravelly texture and gentle tannins that last well into the finish. Classy, refined, very fashionable, and structural first - it isn't aiming at being a one-dimensional fruit bomb, showing that Grenache (with a pinch of Cinsault) really is worth looking at for fine reds.
