Clos Cibonne Cuvée Spéciale des Vignettes Cru Classé (Rosé) 2024 - ExceptionalTasted by Elizabeth Gabay MW & Ben Bernheim

Dark copper pink. Roasted nuts and dried peaches on the nose - almost toasted fruit. Creamy, soft, toffeed pear compote with some dark plums and saline minerality running through the centre of the wine. More savoury in style, this wine has a grip and edginess which I would struggle to identify as a rosé if served in a dark glass, except that there are no tannins. It is silky smooth and flows like satin. There is firm structure, dark red fruit, a hint of prunes with concentrated richness, and a long salinity emerging on the finale. A serious gastronomic wine able to carry powerful flavours.

About us

We’re mother and son duo Elizabeth Gabay MW and Ben Bernheim. Between us, we’ve been involved in the wines of southern France for over 30 years. Elizabeth started working with the wines of Provence back in 1986, and for the past 20 years has lived on the eastern edge of south-east France. We’ve worked on three books on rosé: Rosé Understanding the Pink Wine Revolution (2018), Elizabeth Gabay’s Buyers Guide to the Rosés of Southern France (2021 e-guide) and, most recently Rosés of Southern France (2022).
